Peter Davidson was born at Knockando on the 7th of December 1895 the second son of Peter Davidson, a ploughman, and Annie (nee Mackay) Davidson of Tomindugle Cottage, Knockando.

He was educated at Knockando Public School following which he was employed as a farm worker. He enlisted in the army at Rothes on the 23rd of July 1915 and landed in France on the 27th of October 1915.

On 11th of May 1917 the 1/5th Battalion Seaforth Highlanders was in the area, east of Fampoux where the front line was to the west of Roeux Cemetery. On the night of the 13th of May the battalion pushed forward and occupied the eastern end of Roeux, at the same time establishing posts on the Roeux-Plouvain Road. They took this area with scarcely any casualties although the German snipers, hidden in the houses, caused some casualties. The Seaforths entered the houses on the opposite side of the street, replying with rifle grenades and counter-sniping; they soon wiped out all opposition. It is likely that Peter Davidson was wounded that day as no action occurred until very late on the 14th when he was badly wounded in the neck and head and never regained consciousness before he died of his wounds.

His brother, Private 266719 Lewis Stewart Davidson 8/10th Battalion Gordon Highlanders, was killed in action on the 28th of March 1918.
