| John "Jack" Eric Elkan was born at Crouch End in Middlesex on the 20th of August 1907 the son of Clifford Isaac Elkan, a retail jeweller, and Caroline (nee Levi) Elkan of 45 Crouch Hall Road, London later of 45 Grendon Gardens, Wembley Park in Middlesex. He was educated at Lancing College where he was in Manor House from May 1921 to July 1924. He became a Fellow of the British Optical Association in 1928. He was married to Caroline Elkan of 45 Grendon Gardens Wembley Park in Middlesex. He died at the Military Emergency Hospital, Mill Hill and was cremated at Golders Green Crematorium on the 7th of May 1940. |
